Respiratory Biofeedback useful for Respiratory diseases???

PULMONARY REHABILITATION: Implementation of Rehabilitation for an individual generally tends to decrease the time required to get back to optimum health capability. Thus in the same manner Pulmonary rehabilitation plays a major role in case of loss of lung function by helping the individual to get back to normal breathing manner.

One of the method which can be used effectively without any sideffects for respiratory disorders and diseases in Pulmonary Rehabilitation is Respiratory biofeedback.

REPSIRATORY BIOFEEDBACK

Respiratory biofeedback is considered as a method but not a treatment procedure for Respiratory disorders. Thus the procedure of Respiratory biofeedback is scheduled for severla sessions based on the individuals respiratory condition (ie.. More sessions may be required in the case where the individual's condition is worse).
The procedure generally incurs relating the feedback of the individual and comparing it with the optimum quality of a healthy body condition.

Various components such as respiratory sensors and capnometry are used where as respiratory sensors are used for calculating the output of the person's breath for measuring the Oxygen and Carbon dioxide levels and capnometry is used for identifying the pressure of the Carbon dioxide level which can help the individual to control their patterns of breathing which can help in improving  certain body lung conditions.

Parts of a Capnometry
Some of the Breathing patterns used in Respiratory Biofeedback are:

  • Natural inhale and exhale.
  • Deep breath without any assesment.
  • Breath with wearble sensors for respiratory assesment.

Thus by using these different breathing patterns the output of the patient breathing is monitored by the clinical staffs and the respiratory rate, breathing patters, blood pressure and heart rate are displayed on the Monitor. Using this measurment the patients understand their body conditions which vary according to each of the breathing pattern. Then the breathing pattern which provides them with healthy and proper lung function are advised by the staffs to be followed up reguarly in order to recover their Lung nature and decrease the symptoms of lung dieases.

Respiratory biofeedback plays a major role in curing of Asthma where the improved breathing patterns tends to increase the required Oxygen levels in the body which leads to increased nutrient content in the body. The controlled breathing pattern can help the patient with asthma to breath without much difficulty.

Other application of the Respiratory feedback are :

  • It helps to improve the  various body conditions and respiratory conditions.
  • Increases the function of diaphragm and abdominal muscles.

Though Respiratory biofeedback helps with manging the symptoms of the lung dieases , it cannot be preferred as complete cure for the Respiratory disease conditions.

  1. I'm 59 years old and female. I was diagnosed a couple of years ago with COPD and I was beyond scared! My lung function test indicated 49% capacity. After having had flu a year ago, the shortness of breath, coughing and chest pains continued even after being treated with antibiotics. I've been smoking two packs a day for 36 years. Being born without a sternum caused my ribs to be curled in just one inch away from my spine, resulting to underdeveloped lungs. At age 34 I had surgery and it was fixed. Unfortunately my smoking just caused more damage to my already under developed lungs. The problem was having is that I enjoy smoking and don't want to give up! Have tried twice before and nearly went crazy and don't want to go through that again. I saw the fear in my husband and children's eyes when I told them about my condition then they start to find solution on their own to help my condition.I am an 59 now who was diagnose COPD emphysema which I know was from my years of smoking. 4. After years of working in construction and smoking cigarettes, Ruben C. was diagnosed with COPD and pulmonary fibrosis. As his illness progressed, Ruben found himself relying on supplemental oxygen around the clock. Even getting out of bed became a challenge.
Don’s doctors and specialists recommended a lung transplant, but after researching the pros and cons of such a drastic procedure, he decided to try something less invasive. Ruben contacted the multivitamin herbal cure. Following herbal restoration treatment, Ruben lung function has improved drastically
“My quality of life has gotten a lot better. I was amazed that I could breathe without any dead air,” said Ruben.
He no longer needs oxygen and looks forward to continued improvement. Ruben says his life is better now, and he’s amazed at how well he can breathe.

Difference Between COPD, Asthma, Emphysema and Bronchitis

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a chronic disease composed of multiple components, which can include asthma, emphysema and/or chronic bronchitis. To reach a diagnosis of COPD you must have two or more of these diseases as diagnosed by your pulmonary (lung) doctor. All of these are considered to be obstructive respiratory diseases. Obstructive lung diseases are categorized as such because they impair the ability of your body to breathe oxygen into the lungs and expire carbon dioxide out of the lungs. Since COPD is a combination of two or more diseases, your symptoms tend to be more severe than if you suffered from only one of the diseases. Various Stages of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease(COPD) STAGE 1 - Mild COPD STAGE 2 - Moderate COPD STAGE 3 - Severe COPD STAGE 4 - Very Severe COPD STAGE-1: Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is a scourge in numerous parts of the world. Most patients with COPD exhibit gentle ailment. Mil...

POPCORN LUNGS!

Disease Name:   bronchiolitis obliterans Nickname: POPCORN LUNGS What happens inside a lung?? Breath In  Breath In---> Diaphragm contracts and moves downwards---> Lung Space increases As the Lung space increases, air is sucked from the nose and then air travels down your windpipe and into your lungs. After passing through your bronchial tubes, the air finally reaches and enters the alveoli (air sacs) Through the very thin walls of the alveoli, oxygen from the air passes to the surrounding capillaries (blood vessels). A red blood cell protein called hemoglobin helps move oxygen from the air sacs to the blood. At the same time, carbon dioxide moves from the capillaries into the air sacs. The gas has traveled in the bloodstream from the right side of the heart through the pulmonary artery. Oxygen-rich blood from the lungs is carried through a network of capillaries to the pulmonary vein. This vein delivers the oxygen-rich blood to the left side of the hea...
